• Terminate for Windows?

From Al Kaiser@1:2320/100 to All on Sun Jul 10 00:50:02 2016
I wonder if anyone ever thought of rewriting this program for Windows? Like Vista, 7 or 10. I do have to run Terminate on an XP computer but I also
need to run Windows 7 programs on this computer. In order to "play FIDO" I have to shut down the Windows 7 side and boot up on an XP drive. Wthe the exception of BINKD, Terminate is the only other program that runs on that side.

Since this program was abandonede many years ago, (is the person who wrote it sitll alive or ever been heard from in years), it should be ripe for rewriting.

Hope someone will consider it. I'll bet there are still a lot of people in Fido-dom who still use, (and like this program. (And if you do take this project on, don't forget to add it's own tagline manager)!

    Thanks all!

Have you tried launching Terminate from Dosbox? My sysop point runs all
dos software in dosbox, and binkd on the windows 10 / Linux side of the coin for getting / sending the packets.

    (Time passes)

Terminate runs fine in dosbox. Just configure a dummy modem in the config file so it doesn't complain and away you go. (I was able to load teh fido settings screen, mail reader etc.)

I have never worked with DOSBOX and I'm not sure how it would run on this machine. I had more hoped that someone would be up to the challenge to
write this program for a true windows enviroment and that is why I asked.
Also I find that for some reason Alt=M does not work anymore I can no
longer pack messges or delete old messages. I have to either manualy
DEL DEL DEL message by message or just go into the directory and wipe out
all the files. This deletes everthing to where I may rather have been
able to delete say everyhing 30 days and older. Some of my areas have
close to 2000 messges and that's a lot of button pushing!

I think Terminate with it own tosser and tagline program, (something like
the old Bluewave used to do), would be a great program. And I'll bet there would be some pretty good programers who might love a challenge like that.
