This weekend the Hartford Lne kicked off here CT. Over 2000 people rode Saturday as they had a free weekend. I rode from my city to Springfield, MA back to New Haven, CT and then back to Meriden. I started out about 8:30,
I'm glad I did because the train filled up quickly. I just found one of the few empty seats near a window, (haveing to ride backward). By the time we
got ot Springfiled, MA there was standing room only in fact reallly not even that beccuse te train was full and they had to turn people away. This went
on all day on both CT Rail and Amtrak cars as you can rides the line on
either for one ticket. This give you a choice of any one of 34 trains a day from New Haven, CT to Hartford, CT. Fewer to Springfield because the track from Hartford to Springfiled is not duble tracked yet. There are sections
with double track but they are just passing sidings. Work should be
started soon to double track them so trains can run the full route.

I took my camera and took photos some photso before boarding and some after fininshing my ride. I then went up the Berlin, CT station which is not yet compeleted and took some more from both platforms. The Vermonter Amtrack
came through and I stood up to take a picture of it but by the time I got
my camers up it blew by at about 110 MPH! This has got me interested in
video photography and I'm getting into that after have SLR's for many (thousands), of years.

Thee were some equipment isses. The AC was out in one car and I noticed
that our car had a flat wheel. When I asked the engineer he said, "yea
I got a flat wheel". He was doing some pretty heavy breaking on the
wasy up to Springield he many have flatened it out himself.

    A fun radfan weekend!
