A bodybuilder who was struck and killed by a train was reportedly
attempting to outrun the locomotive on its own tracks for a promo shoot
when he died.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that 37-year-old actor, model and bodybuilder Greg Plitt was trying to prove the effectiveness of an energy drink when he harrowingly dashed before the train in Burbank, Calif. Saturday.
The Superman-like move, showcasing him as being "more powerful than a locomotive," instead tragically cost him his life.
Police confirmed to the Daily News Tuesday that video taken from the Metrolink commuter train captured the former Army Ranger dangerously
"running on the rails" ahead of the train before he suddenly disappears
off camera.
Due to the camera's high angle, "that portion there we're unable to see," said Officer Josh Kendrick.
Plitt was reportedly flexing his muscle for an energy drink promotion with Shadow Beverage, which lacked a proper permit, when the horrific accident occurred, NBC Los Angeles reported.
The company touts caffeinated drinks called "No Fear" and "Whey Up."
"It was unknown if he heard or saw the train," Kendrick said of Plitt's
final moments while being trailed by the locomotive whose conductor
allegedly blasted its whistle and attempted to slow down.
Police have yet to review additional footage taken by two individuals who were with Plitt, he said.
A detective told TMZ that there were multiple energy drink bottles near
the tracks, suggesting that Plitt was hopped up on caffeine before making
the dangerous run.
Plitt, who was a West Point graduate and Captain and Ranger in the U.S.
Army, was set to appear in the new Bravo reality TV series, "Friends to Lovers," before his fatal accident.

Reminds me of an LSD urban legend c.1967 where this hippie supposedly did acid and tried to stop a train with his bare hands...
I recall an episode where a hippie felt his home-brew LSD wasn't
working so he took four tabs of it.
He jumped off his 3rd floor balcony a hour later and landed in a
huge bush. The fire department had to cut him out while he was
screaming and cussing everyone. He thought they were cutting
his fingers and toes off. True story.
