    Hello Ozz,

PCBoard v16 (currently) is online so people can see how far we are
in the rewrite. Attempts were made to migrate from MSC to GCC
    without success.

Thank you for the informative message.
However, I missed any mention of what operating systems it's running on.

Since 1995 I run my PCBoard BBS under OS/2.
    I started running PCBoard v14 under DOS/Desqview.

That IBM's version is now substituted with eCS and ArcaOS (Blue Lion).
Both state to be compatible with the original operating (IBM) system.

    Regards,

    Holger

*Very* good point - was too focused on whats happening to the code...

Currently PAE (Pre-Alpha Experience) is running on a Linux VPS in Arizona.

I develop PPAE (Pre-PAE) on a Mac OSX xServer in Virginia.

    * Occasionally I slow down and get it to work on 32bit Windows in a
    Win32 VPS in Dallas.

I am keen on eventually getting a copy of ArcaOS - just so I can see
"can I still support" OS/2(ish) environments.

Right now, PCBoard v16 does not have Serial Communications - it is 100% TCP/IP, and runs as a Daemon/TService - No U/I. I am working on a
"Detached" WFC (Wait for Call) console - but, it is a distraction to
getting the product out the door ;-)

How important is Serial Communications to you? When we did our original
survey last year, I think 2% said they want dial-up... and at such a
low number, it feel into (maybe after the TCP build is out the door). I
do not want to reference is as PCBoard WinServer - a couple other
products do that. Instead, think of PCB16 as a JUMP from 23 years ago.

    PPAE has:
    1. JAMmb API as the message base - stress tested pulling in USENET
for a week - no problems.
    2. A Parallel NNTP Server - uses PCB16 USERS.DAT for authentication
    and access control.
    3. Full-Tested Fidonet Tosser
    4. PPE is no more, as the WHOLE BBS is an interprested open source
script. Organized so people can replace prompts, screens, logic, etc.
    5. * Primary focus in the message side of thing - next month I
migrate to focusing on the FILE side of things.

I am open to wishes, bitches, complaints, feedback, etc.
www.fb.com/PCBoard16 - I try to post screenshots, design details, etc.
