Great news for the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship host country: Mikkel
Boedker and Jannik Hansen will soon join the Danish national team in Herning.

The San Jose Sharks have given green light to the players and the Danish Ice Hockey Union that they can join the Danish national team in Herning soon. They will join fellow NHLers Frederik Andersen (Toronto), Oliver Bjorkstrand (Columbus) and Frans Nielsen (Detroit) on the national team that has currently kept roster spots open for three additional skaters.

The two players bring in vast experience. Forward Boedker has played 618 NHL games (109 goals, 179 assists) and 34 post-season games (6 goals, 11 assists) during his ten years in the NHL. Defenceman Hansen played 626 NHL games and 70 playoff games during ten full seasons in the NHL.

Both learned their hockey in Rodovre in the Copenhagen area before moving to Sweden and North America. Boedker played in four, Hansen in six IIHF Ice Hockey
World Championships for their country. Both were also on the roster of Team Europe during the 2016 World Cup of Hockey where the team consisting of players
from the "smaller" European hockey countries surprised by making it to the gold
    medal game against Canada.

"Mikkel gives us a strong weapon on our power play and Jannik comes with physical play and work ethic," says sport director Jesper Duus. "These are two NHL players. It goes without saying that they are really skilled players who will give the team and the interest a huge boost."
