• Richard Truffer dies

    Former Swiss national team player Richard Truffer passed away on 17 February in
    Martigny. He died after long illness in hospital at the age of 85.

    Born on 10 April 1932, Richard Truffer was the oldest member of a dynasty of hockey players from the family at Swiss club EHC Visp that during his active career also included his brothers Amandus, Anton, Erwin and Otto as well as his
    cousin Herold.

    The Truffers were influential during the club's heydays in the ‘50s and ‘60s and Richard Truffer captained the team that won the only Swiss championship for the club in 1962. He also won the Swiss Cup title in 1964.

    Richard Truffer, who was also a pentathlete, focused on his profession as policeman after the end of his hockey career. The funeral will be tomorrow in Sion where he was living until recently.
