From IB JOE@1:342/200 to JoHo on Tue Mar 27 13:13:25 2018
I have been playing with FD again, I hope to be in the front seat ready for any future releases. Anyway, here's the setup.... I run the main BBS on a
Raspbary Pi box. I run a VM with Windows 10 32Bit to run some DOS doors...
The host PC to the VM is a new box that didn't have an expantion slot to fit
a PCI card so that I could add a serial card. The work around is a
    USB->Serial addaptor

I was having a problem with the VM from time to time not initializing the modem... then the program would drop out. I fixed this by playing with the power features in windows... now the system does not use a screen saver or
any of the advanced power features.... I don't think it's the screen saver as much as it was the advanced power features... causing things to sleep after a few minutes of no activity.

Here's the problerm though.... when In go to use the terminal, or the
mailer... but in the terminal program if I try to dial out with the use of ALT-D or P ... call from the nodelist or phone book... I get an error message and it doesn't dial... or if it does dial it'll dial 4 or so number, of an 11 number dial and not connect obviously.

Now, if I were in the terminal and I was to type by hand ATDT18005551212 ...
a number in the phone book or the nodelist it would dial the number and
    connect easy as Pi.

I;ve played around a little adding a few ~~~ to delay the dialing to make
sure the dial tone was present... nothing...

It is a VOIP line and a USR Veverything modem.

    Ideas??

Just a silly question ... there's a manual dial function in the Terminal, <Alt-M>, does it work if you try that?

No it wasn't a silly question...

If I try to dial a number in FD terminal using alt-P, alt-d or now alt-m it doesn't dial ... I get a modem error.... when I say error I mean FD shows a dialog box that says modem error.... then it starts the 10 second clock to repeat this problem. If I put the modem speaker on I can hear it dial a few numbers, 11 being the magic amount of numbers, and the attempt fails...

    NOW....
if I'm in the terminal window and manually type the numbers in... ATDT(then
the number) hit enter it dials the number and connects.

    Hmmmmm....

I may start looking at the fossil I'm using, I'm currently using X00, the one that came with my version of FD...

There you go... explained better I think.

No it wasn't a silly question...

What does your modem section look like in FDSETUP?

Depending on which environment you're using, you may have better results, as far as FOSSIL drivers go, with ADF and/or BNU.

Yes indeed, I used Anders Danielsson's fossil driver for, like, ever.
