By the way, you'll probably notice that there will be several
messages that I'm not responding to, at least right away. I've got a _huge_ backlog, and I really pruned some of the threads that were way
out of date back there. They were all regarding conversational
tangents that things seem to keep wrapping back around to, anyway. ;)

Not a problem... As long as you keep your end of the conversation up,
and don't lose the important bits, that's what counts... ;) And, as
you've probably noticed, I've been slowly responding back, anyway... ;)

With any luck, they'll not be made of glass and shatter when you drop
them... <G> Seriously, though, staying reasonably frugal makes good
sense... then when the inevitable down times come, one is in a better
position to weather them, both by practice and by not already being
    over-extended... :)
Yeah. God the call of having a 5-digit bank account is screaming at
me lately. I really don't have very far into the 4s, either.
Certainly not enough to sustain for more than a month or two. That's
    the moving fund, too.

Did all of the mess around the late etc payments finally get
    straightened around...?

Keep your fingers crossed for more contract work to come in here.
I'm starting to look for more hourly stuff around here, too. Stuff
that hopefully I'll be able to manage; entry levelish yet still interesting, hopefully.

Hopefully the contract work will pick up again quickly... :) As for
the hourly work, also hopefully something that will easily fit your
schedule around Deschain's school hours, and that isn't too far away for
    your transportation there.....

Indeed. Unbroken bootstraps might be helpful... but those calling for
their use rarely supply the need... ;0
Well it's good that some people understand that. ;)

It's amazing and sad to me how many people don't understand that...

Shoulda been running and meditating instead of picking up the smoking,
after all... ;) But yeah, I hear you... :)
Well my body is in good enough condition now that I've been able to
start back with some things. Even some [very limited] muscular work on my upper body, though it's weaker than I've ever trained back from before. I took my 3rd run without missing any today. Forgot my
inhaler, though, and had an asthma attack 15 minutes out, so it didn't really go as well as it could have.

Next time, remember your inhaler.. ;) But that sounds like some decent progress... :)

It's a good time to drop the smokes again, you've got that part right.

Mind you, I'm speaking as a non-smoker... but with friends and family
that do smoke... In my experience, though, observing, the smokes never
really do do as much good as they are supposedly doing, and cause health problems of various sorts as well...

That's part of the problem with needing meds... no way to have a more
reliable way of getting them than what you have now...? And probably no
way to build yourself a small emergency stockpile to tide you over when
this sort of thing happens... You'd think that the VA would recognize
the importance of keeping the meds stable to keep you stable...
Not really any way other than the VA right now, no. Like I
mentioned in the other message, though, this is a constant goal of
mine, as it is for you. I'll see what I'm able to manage.

Does talking to your VA docs do any good...? You'd think they'd have
some interest in keeping you stable... you'd think, anyway... ;0

Well, I'm trying to keep it up, but as you can tell the volume that I'm able to deal with has decreased a bit in the last few weeks. I'm going to work on compressing what's left a bit, too, so that I don't have such an overwhelming amount to deal with here.

Did all of the mess around the late etc payments finally get
    straightened around...?

Everything is good. I haven't replenished what I had to survive off of from savings, but this week should hopefully put me back in the green far enough so that I can start making deposits again.

It seems to be picking up. Granted, some of the work was more of a creative exercise in finding out what the client wanted but didn't know that they wanted, but the point is that they've authorized more hours. :)
The hourly work is something that I haven't done much about yet. I really need to, but I'm taking baby steps on getting myself back out into the world of
people. A couple of the different professionals that I've been talking to have
recommended after the amount of isolation that I've been dealing with to take it slow, so I'm hoping to start taking an hour a day at different coffee shops around here now that I've got a working laptop battery. I wonder if I'll get any comments about how awesome, retro, and vintage my laptop is since it's a massive hulk from awhile ago instead of something slim 'n new. Heh.

Next time, remember your inhaler.. ;) But that sounds like some decent progress... :)

The progress is getting better rapidly. I'm back up to my normal recovery and performance curve on running, almost. The strength issues are still hanging around until that shoulder is good enough to train with. I don't know how long that's going to take; it's still a few more weeks before I can see the
physical therapist for more input on that again, as well.

Mind you, I'm speaking as a non-smoker... but with friends and family
that do smoke... In my experience, though, observing, the smokes never really do do as much good as they are supposedly doing, and cause health problems of various sorts as well...

Well smokes allegedly help one deal with stress. Nicotine alone is pretty good for it, I hear. So it makes a great crutch. Other than that it's good for nothing, and the crutch thing is a double-edged sword anyway. You don't want crutches that you can't throw away when you don't need them any more. Anyhoo I've got asthma and all kinds of fun stuff like that, too. So they've never really been a plus in my department for anything other than helping me deal with social anxiety. Totally not worth it. The health problems are enormous and can be quite life-ending, so yeah... I'm glad I've been off of all the tobacco for a week again now. See if I can push back up into the years
away from it again this time. ;)

Does talking to your VA docs do any good...? You'd think they'd have

They're putting it off for awhile for some reason until I've been stable longer. Talk about a catch .22... Stay stable with unstable medications until
we decide that we can give you enough meds to stay stable with. Great plan, and a true indicator of government planning and action.
