of stubbornness"...meaning they won't make the trip to the doctor to get checked.

Happens to women, too... And in either case, if there's family or NB>friends to push back and come along with, it can be overcome and turned NB>to better... ;)

I've likely said this before...but, a friend of mine doesn't want to
go the doctor, because "he doesn't want them to see him naked". Like
it's something they haven't seen before?? :P It surely doesn't bother me
if medical professionals see me nude...they are there to save my butt,
not kiss it. I prefer the female medical professionals though...as they
tend to be a bit "gentler" in the physical exams.

People will come up with all sorts of excuses, some less valid than
others... ;) One could counter with, "you'd rather the coroner saw you
naked instead...?" And most doctors don't make you strip completely
anyway any more... ;)

That reminds me of the joke where the guy wakes up in the morgue, and
asks "If I'm alive, what am I doing here?? And, if I'm dead, how come I
have to go to the bathroom??". :P

That's always helpful.

I heard of a case of this one gentleman (he's dead now), who
apparently started smoking at 9 years of age, and had apparently smoked
over a million cigarettes in his lifetime. You could NOT convince him
that smoking caused lung cancer, and he REFUSED to go to the doctor.
Well, he got a chest cold that wouldn't go away, and his wife said
"You're going to the doctor, whether you like it, or want to, or not".

Well, they checked him out, and the doctor said "You have enough
cancer in your body to kill you 10 times over"...and added "if we do
nothing, you'll be dead within 2 weeks. With chemo, you might live for 6 months". He went on chemo for a short time, but 3 days after he stopped
it, he was dead.

A friend of his said "this is a classic example of 'I told you so'".
