christmas I decided to step up to an iPhone 7 Plus.

    Good for you :)

Battery life sucked and the battery was not changeable.

Yes, they all do that, but the first few charge cycles "energizes" the battery and it's quite good after that!

it's fancy 2 rear camera feature that would not allow 16x9 shots.

Well, if you turn the camera sideways it takes a landscape photo :)

After a week of evaluating the POS i sent it back to Apple.

Dude! You didn't! Oh well, different strokes for different folks {chuckle} I totally geek out with mine, and yes, I used an Android, too, and MUCH prefer the iPhone 7 Plus I have. :)

The aspect ratio is still 4.3. 16x9 is the web standard for things like
YouTube cover photos, etc. Apple might have updated the firmware to allow 16x9 shots since i had mine.

    Yep.. To each his own..

My Samsung GS5 gets 3-4 days on it's extended battery.. It's going on 3 years old now and works great.

After using an Android smartphone for seemlingly forever this christmas
I decided to step up to an iPhone 7 Plus.

I went the other way. Started out with an iPhone 3GS, then went to a 4S, which I still have as a second phone. Made the switch to Android last year for the first time, mainly because with a bit of shopping around, I could get better bang for the buck. I don't regret the switch at all. My Android has been awesome at a fraction of the price.

That said, I still like aspects of how the iPhone works. My ideal phone is a bit like a unicorn. It would be a kind of hybrid between Apple and Android, with something else thrown in - a unicorn, because in the real world, it could never happen. :)

I was turned off by not being able to take 16x9 ratio photos with the iPhone
    7. Don't know if Apple ever added this capability.

What a surprise that was when it finally got here.. Battery life sucked and
the battery was not changeable. There is no SD card slot to expand the storage capacity.

But the most shocking thing was it's fancy 2 rear camera feature that would
not allow 16x9 shots. Somehow Apple decided 4.3 was acceptable and took better photos. In order to create 16x9 photos an app had to be installed to resize it's default and only ratio photos. But when taking a photo it required guessing what would be visible after that photo was taken.

After a week of evaluating the POS i sent it back to Apple. It's been said, when Steve Jobs died Apple Computer died with him.

Iphones have shot 16x9 since the iPhone 4. Even a few acadamy award winning short films have been shot totally on the iPhone. The 5 was the first to add full 1080p HD. I shot my cousins funeral service with it so his mom could see it.

An app is needed to crop to 16x9. Google it up..

An app is needed to crop to 16x9. Google it up..

I don't use the stock camera app... I use a .99 app called Camera Pro that functions more like my DLSR. Just because the stock app does not handle 16x9 does not mean the camera can not handle 16x9. In fact, much like the Android community, if you would have asked the Apple community they would have guided you to a few apps that work better than the stock camera App... most of them free. I just like the one I use because it mimicks a Canon EOS.

I'm aware of the apps. Installed and it served the purpose.

I also noticed many iPhone apps do not have the go back toggle when making configuration settings. My Android has a go back toggle to back out of
    whatever you were doing.

For $700+ it was a no brainer sending the pos back to apple.. :)

Double click the home button on the bottom... then there's a couple ways you can reset from there :-)
