• Case of .*LO files?

From Kurt Weiske@1:218/700 to All on Tue Jan 15 08:46:48 2019

I'm running Allfix 5.13 under Windows XP (I had that memory bug with Allfix 6 where Allfix would hang, the only solution was to go back to 5).

I recently switched mailers from Radius to Binkit, and noticed that my mailer is not recognizing the .*lo files created by Allfix. Allfix is creating files with uppercase alpha characters, but according to the spec:

    According to http://ftsc.org/docs/frl-1034.001:

Name of flow file is formed from network and node number of remote
system, expressed as 4 hexadecimal digits each, zero-padded on the
left. Thus information concerning to node 104/36 is stored in flow
and control files with name "00680024" with different extension.
Hexadecimal digits must be lower case if it is supported by OS file
    system.

Is there a way to force Allfix to use lower-case characters in .*lo file names?

Because Allfix 5 was written for dos in the DOS days, it defaults everything to
uppercase. Even the original 6 code had that. THis is also one of the things that v7 is changing is to see if the OS is case sensitive.

I know with the binkd verion I run, there are options in the config file that will translate the case for me from upper to lower. I am not familure with your
program so Im not sure if there are options within there to allow for the translation of filenames.

The frl* documents are NOt standards. "frl" stands for Fidonet Reference Library". The library consists mainly of proposals that for some reason did NOT
    make it into standards.

    The relevant standard is FTS.5003.003

    http://ftsc.org/docs/fts-5005.003

    === quote ===

Filename case sensitivity - the case of the BSO filenames depends on
the OS file system. Lower case filenames are prefered if supported
by the file system. If the OS file system supports lower and upper
case filenames, the software should be able to handle both for
maximum compatibility. That behaviour might be controlled by a
    configuration option.

There isn't. But you should address the author of Binkit. That is the one not honouring the standard. "the software should be able to handle both for maximum
    compatibility."

    Cheers, Michiel
