You apparantly don't have cable in your
area. Not sure that there are any other
alternatives...
There is, but it's Comcast so it's horribly
expensive and we're not cable television
subscribers, so that would further add to
the monthly cost.
Not sure anyone's listening given that this
conversation took place six years ago. When my
ADSL service crapped out I did switch to Comcast
for around US$ 30/month (by that time we had also
switched to cable television from satellite). I
was with Comcast for a few years but just recently
there have been times when their "3M" service
would drop to around 50k downstream, which stops
some things working.
So here I am switching back to AT&T ($46+ehft)
because they're still the only other wired option.
They no longer offer ADSL service so I had to buy
a VDSL modem/router. I was irritated that they
shipped me a used one but this evening I was able
to get it working. I think it says something about
how solid the Cable/Telco duopoly is that they're
still the only two wired options here.
