• Why?

    Hi All,

So, why do we keep dead echos like this around? Seems to me there are a lot of echos in the echolist that haven't had any traffic for years...

    Daniel

    ... Oh, bother.

the echolist does not list live echos... it lists echotags of echo areas along with a bit more information about the areas...

Ok, that still begs the question: why bother? If nobody's posted anything in an echo since 1997, why keep in in the echolist - or any other list - forever? What is the purpose of an echolist entry for an echo that hasn't seen any traffic for years, and likely never will again?

Are there technical reasons? Political reasons? Sentimental reasons? Not trying to be insulting or offensive, just trying to understand.

the purpose is to keep the echotag registered by the owner/maintainer of the tag...

    no problem...
