    I just down-vote and then delete SPAM like that. Eventually, I want to put in a place a score threshold so we can self-police (enough down-votes and SPAM just won't show up for most folks new-scans).

    yeah but when you do something like that some twat will just create bunch of acounts to downvote whoever they dont like. people have been doing that on reddit for years.

    Maybe there should be some type of challenge on the web side and the bbs side until a user has x amount of logins and x amount of real posts.

    i wonder if someone wrote a script to search out synchronet bbses and use
    them for posting spam on the web. years ago i saw so some hacker wannabe suggesting using synchronet bbses because they thought they were free shells.

    That's a hell of a lot of effort to create a ton of accounts just to downvote something into oblivion on a BBS.


    Also, Reddit's algorithm has been able to detect mass coordinated downvoting for at least a decade, now. For the most part, anything that gets buried due to downvotes is fairly organic.

    I've literally seen people do stuff like this several times just with my time using synchronet in the telnet age. there are some crazy people out there.

    i've seen it done to myself and other people. there's a guy that has a botnet in the milwaukee reddit. if you arent a huge liberal you get burried with a
    ton of downvotes if this guy is watching. it LOOKS organic but if you follow that reddit enough you know when people are on and how things look when it's regular people. for sure people have figured out how to game reddit in many ways.


    so you dont think my challenge idea is good? i think it would help prevent a lot of this random spam. give them a challenge if they have less than x amount of logons and posts. it wouldnt be that annoying and after a while it would go away.
